چکیده

Pneumonia remains the leading cause of infectious deaths and yet fundamentally new conceptual models underlying its pathogenesis have not emerged. Patients and mice with bacterial pneumonia have marked elevations of cardiolipin in lung fluid, a rare, mitochondrial-specific phospholipid that potently disrupts surfactant function. Intratracheal cardiolipin in mice recapitulates the clinical Users may view, print, copy, download and text and datamine the content in such documents, for the purposes of academic research, subject always to the full Conditions of use: http://www.nature.com/authors/editorial_policies/license.html#terms Address Correspondence to: Rama K. The effect of down-regulation of CCL5 on lipopolysaccharide-induced WI-38 fibroblast injury: a potential role for infantile pneumonia

Objective(s): Aberrant expression of CCL5 has been found in several kinds of inflammatory diseases, and the roles of CCL5 in these diseases have also been reported. However, the role of CCL5 in infantile pneumonia is still unclear. Thus, the function and acting mechanism of CCL5 in the in vitro model of infantile pneumonia were researched in this study. Materials and Methods: Human fetal lung f...

The mito-DAMP cardiolipin blocks IL-10 production causing persistent inflammation during bacterial pneumonia

Bacterial pneumonia is a significant healthcare burden worldwide. Failure to resolve inflammation after infection precipitates lung injury and an increase in morbidity and mortality. Gram-negative bacteria are common in pneumonia and increased levels of the mito-damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) cardiolipin can be detected in the lungs. Here we show that mice infected with Klebsiella p...

Global gene profiling of aging lungs in Atp8b1 mutant mice

OBJECTIVE Recent studies implicate cardiolipin oxidation in several age-related diseases. Atp8b1 encoding Type 4 P-type ATPases is a cardiolipin transporter. Mutation in Atp8b1 gene or inflammation of the lungs impairs the capacity of Atp8b1 to clear cardiolipin from lung fluid. However, the link between Atp8b1 mutation and age-related gene alteration is unknown. Therefore, we investigated how ...

Evaluation of Efflux pump activity among Uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia multiple- Drug Resistance isolates

Antibiotic resistance is a phenomenon in which antibiotic used to treat bacteria becomes useless due to resistance mechanism. Increased drug resistance and occurrence of Multiple Drug Resistance in bacteria specificity nosocomial and Urinary Tract Infection bacteria has reduced the possibilities of treating these infectious diseases. Efflux pumps are one of the major mechanism of MDR in bacteri...

The hydrophilic proteins of lung surfactant as a prognostic marker in experimental pneumonia

Abstract BACKGROUND: SP-A and SP-D are hydrophilic proteins which regulate the inflammatory response of the lung. Pasteurella multocida is one of the most common bacteria isolated from calves suffering from shipping fever pneumonia, one of the most problems in dairy herds. OBJECTIVE: Evaluation of surfactant content may provide a valuable diagnostic tool for detection of calf pneumonia due to ...
